Opening 1 month after Disneyland, Maryland’s Enchanted Forest (10040 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, MD) once drew up to 300,000 visitors yearly to the storybook-inspired park. It closed around the time John Waters filmed Cry-Baby there but remnants still survive. Some are still hidden behind the Enchanted Forest Shopping Center built in it’s place while others have been restored and moved to Clark’s Elioak Farm (10500 State Route 108, Ellicott City, Maryland 21042).
