Here’s another sneak peak of I AM DIVINE featuring all of our favorite Dreamlanders from the World of John Waters!! In this new video you get to meet the director, Jeffrey Schwarz, and then you get to see this blog’s cameo at the 2:20 mark! Yup, that’s right! This lil’ ol’ Tumblr blog helped me land a gig on the upcoming documentary! And if I’m really lucky you’ll see my mug actually in the movie!
But here’s the deal, everyone is having a hard time getting movies made right now. John Waters has been trying for years to get Fruitcake off the ground. He’s said himself that studios only want either big budget Avatar type movies or low budget Paranormal Activity type ones. And that studios now want some young, crazy director’s new film whereas they didn’t want that when John was making movies.
So it should come as no surprise that people like you and me can make a huge difference in what movies end up in the theaters! And as someone who was only 12 when Divine died, and who has been a John Waters fan since college, I can’t help but want to help the makers of I AM DIVINE! I’m not rich but I am really getting tired of all the remakes & rip-offs coming out so I gave $10 to the fundraising campaign. The more you give the better the incentives get!
