With the sad reminder that today is the 23rd Anniversary of Divine’s death comes some good news! There’s a new documentary in the works called I AM DIVINE from Automat Pictures directed by Jeffrey Schwarz and produced by Mr. Schwarz and Lotti Pharriss Knowles.
We had Divine Waters (1985), Divine Trash (1998), and In Bad Taste (2000) but the only full documentary on Divine was the 2-hour E! True Hollywood Story from 1999! And since we’ve now entered the 7th year since the last John Waters movie, its nice to know we’ll get a Dreamland fix with I AM DIVINE as early as 2012. It’s also worth noting that this gap is now tied with the period between Polyester and Hairspray! (I’m about to throw an Aunt Ida fit!…”no Gator, NOOO!”)
So while we’re crossing our fingers for Fruitcake to be made, it’ll be worth it to throw our support to I AM DIVINE on Facebook, Twitter, and eventually www.divinemovie.com
In other Divine news…Frances: A Mother Divine, a documentary about Divine’s mother, was accepted in the International Gay Film Festival UK which takes place May 7th - 14th!
It all makes me wanna sing, “Don’t ever stop, doing what you’re doing, don’t stop!…Shoot Your Shot!”
